Welcome to Mandii’s blog!
The name “Mandii” started many years ago, when I was still a high school student. Back then, I was so deeply into Korean drama and culture, but didn’t have a clue about the Korean language (I got fluent in this language, but some years after the birth of the name “Mandii”). I also didn’t really like the name I was given, so I created “Mandii” using the two components “Man” meaning “ten thousands”, and “Di” or “이” meaning “to go, to travel, to move…”
Small note: Yes, I didn’t like my real name back then because I thought there would have been too many better names that my parents could have given me. Yes, I was such a young, naive adolescent back then to have those thoughts. And no, I now love my real name as well as my nickname; I love both being Hong and being Mandii.

When I gave birth to “Mandii”, my intention was that with this name, I would go a very long way. Well, back then, the name with the story behind it was just a pure and dreamy thought of a 15- 16-year-old girl. But interesting enough, 10 years later now, I think I have gone quite a long way, maybe not enough to impress many, but enough to make the 15-16-year-old Mandii proud and believe that her grown-up life would be amazing.
I have visited almost 20 countries, and have been living in 4 countries: South Korea, Singapore, France, and now Denmark. This blog is where I share my thoughts, my memories, and little happy moments along the journey I explore the world and discover myself.
To my younger self, and maybe someone who’s seeking some company and motivation to get out of their comfort zone.
